ving Adherence / Improving Compliance

AARDEX Ltd has acquired APREX Corporation.

-This step reunites two firms that, prior to 1995, were geographic divisions of the firm that pioneered electronic monitoring of patient compliance with prescribed drug regimens. During their 4 years of separation, both firms made technical progress, the most important of which was monitor redesign for low-cost, high-reliability produc-tion, done for AARDEX by INDTEC, SA, a leading producer of electronic watch move-ments. As a result, today’s price for a 2-year electronic monitor is about the same as today’s price for 1 month’s supply of many newer, chronic-use pharmaceuticals. Thus, electronic monitoring (EM) is now an economically attractive guide for clinical decision-making when treatment responses disappoint.
